Narnia Woods Trail

Children can discover characters from the classic children’s tale “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” at this Narnia-themed nature trail. The walk is located in Banstead Woods and Chipstead Downs Nature Reserve. Carved posts depicting the site’s special flora and fauna mark out the route. The figures have been carved from standing deadwood, using the site’s own existing natural resources. Banstead Woods and Chipstead Downs has a fascinating history, mentioned in the Domesday Book 1086. It has been in the ownership of Kings and Queens of England, Knights of the Realm and many other interesting people over the years.

Reigate Caves

Did you know Reigate has a network of ‘caves’ which meander beneath the town centre. Technically, they are in the main old sand mines. While the castle overlooking Reigate has gone, the mound beneath is still present - and has been mined for sand over many years. As a result, many of its dig sites remain and these can be explored with a guide today. Locals refer to the area as the “Reigate Caves” and tours include the Barons’ Cave in the Castle Grounds and the East and West Caverns in Tunnel Road. Your view of Reigate might change once you have experienced what lies beneath your feet!

Pilgrim Brewery
Pilgrim Brewery

Pilgrim Brewery is located in the market town of Reigate and was established in 1982, making it the oldest craft brewery in the South East. Reigate is on the old pilgrimage route between Winchester to Canterbury and there are records of beer being brewed in the town for hundreds of years. The Brewery now boasts a popular tap room with a range of entertainment.

Whist not a hidden gem, did you know The Light has a 6 screen cinema and has a plethora of activities, including axe-throwing, bowling, duckpin bowling, mini-golf, a climbing arena, interactive darts, shuffleboard, karaoke, curling, an arcade and American pool. Reigate Heath
Reigate Heath Windmill

Reigate Heath Windmill is a grade II listed post mill which is now used as a chapel. It is thought to be the only windmill in the world which is a consecrated church. Built c.1765, this windmill was last worked by wind in April 1862. In 1962, the mill was purchased by Reigate Borough Council and was restored with new sails. The first church service was held on 18 October 1964.

The Archway Theatre is a thriving “little theatre” located under the railway arches in Horley, near Gatwick. It seats 95 people and runs 10 full productions every year, each over a two-week period, from musicals through drama to pantomime. They also hold youth and young adults workshop & productions.
